What is a LCD (Low Calorie Diet)? Understanding Optislim’s Approach to Healthy Weight Loss

What is a LCD ? (Low Calorie Diet)

On our LCD program you simply replace 2 meals per day from the Optislim For Her or The Optiman For Him ranges with a snack or two in between. Our 100 calorie snacks are a great snacking option. It is important to make up the rest of your nutrients with a whole food meal. This could even be a nice burger!

Similar to a VLCD, an LCD uses the same principle of creating a calorie deficit to enable your body to burn fat to lose weight. The main difference is that an LCD, requires you to restrict your calorie intake but with more allowance and flexibility compared to a VLCD. An LCD diet allows you to consume between 1000-1800 calories per day with regular meals and snacks incorporated.

Meal replacements that are an LCD are formulated to provide you with 2/3 of your recommended daily intake of essential nutrients so it is important that the remainder of your RDI’s are made up from a regular meal and snacks.

An LCD is very beneficial in helping to reduce body weight and to improve health in those who are overweight or obese. Studies have also shown that LCDs can benefit those with metabolic syndrome, a group of conditions that occur collectively when an individual has excess fat stored around the abdomen and elevated blood pressure.

Benefits of our LCD program:

1. Weight Loss: The most obvious benefit of an LCD is weight loss. By limiting calorie intake, the body is forced to burn stored fat for energy, resulting in weight loss.

2. Increased Metabolism: LCDs have been shown to increase the body’s metabolism, meaning that it burns more calories even at rest. This is because the body adapts to the reduced calorie intake by becoming more efficient at burning energy.

3. Improved Insulin Sensitivity: LCDs have been found to improve insulin sensitivity, which is important for individuals with diabetes or insulin resistance. This can help regulate blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of developing diabetes.

4. Reduced Inflammation: LCDs have been shown to reduce inflammation in the body, which is linked to a variety of health problems including heart disease and arthritis.

5. Lower Risk of Chronic Diseases: By promoting weight loss and reducing inflammation, LCDs may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and certain types of cancer.

6. Sustainable and Flexible: Unlike some crash diets that severely restrict food intake, LCDs are a more sustainable and flexible approach to weight loss. They allow individuals to still enjoy a wide variety of foods in moderation, making it easier to stick to long-term.
